Modular axle architecture
The MULTITRAC family supports different vehicle sizes, axle positions, reductions and installation concepts without losing the core robust axle design.
ZF MULTITRAC
ZF MULTITRAC is a modular axle family developed for demanding construction machinery. Its robust architecture combines high load capacity, dependable traction, integrated braking and high ground clearance, helping machines work reliably across uneven terrain and heavy-duty cycles.
Planetary final reductions, application-specific braking and flexible integration support durable, efficient axle performance in conventional, electric and hydrostatic machine layouts. The result is a compact axle solution designed for long service life, lower power losses and practical maintenance.

The records below show documented ZF MULTITRAC relationships across wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks and backhoe loaders. Use them as identification leads only; confirm the installed axle, position, ratio and type-plate information before ordering parts or planning service.
Use the filters to narrow the documented MULTITRAC installation list. A listed vehicle is an identification lead, not permission to assume interchangeability between axle models or configurations.

MULTITRAC axle lubrication is application-specific and is primarily covered by ZF TE-ML 05 for construction-machinery axles. Where listed for the identified axle group, Genuine ZF PowerFluid Gear LS and ZF PowerFluid Plus provide the approved service-fill route for the relevant gear, planetary and wet-brake requirements.
The correct fluid depends on the exact axle family, brake and differential configuration, load class, operating temperature and TE-ML 05 category. Do not select oil from the MULTITRAC family name alone; confirm the axle type plate and current ZF lubricant information before filling.

ViewMULTITRAC oil service is not governed by one universal interval. ZF TE-ML 05 separates the initial factory-fill change window from subsequent service intervals and differentiates load classes, wet-brake duty and approved fluid categories. The matrix below provides the planning values; the exact axle group remains decisive.
| Application group | Relevant models and classes | Initial service | Subsequent service |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact-loader axle groups | MT-L 3010–3055; TE-ML 05 categories 05C/05E/05F/05G/05N | 2,000 / 1,500 / 1,000 h by Load Class 1 / 2 / 3 | See the TE-ML 05 interval matrix below for the approved fluid category |
| Wheel-loader axle groups | MT-L 3065–3135 and MT-D 3085 II/3095 II/3110; TE-ML 05 | 2,000 / 1,500 / 1,000 h by Load Class 1 / 2 / 3 | PowerFluid Gear LS or Plus interval depends on the load class and exact axle group |
| Backhoe-loader rear axles | MT-B 3065 / MT-B 3070; TE-ML 05E/05F/05G | 2,000 / 1,500 / 1,000 h by Load Class 1 / 2 / 3 | PowerFluid Plus interval depends on the load class and current TE-ML information |
| Dumper axles and inserts | MT-D 3095 II / MT-D 3110 / MT-D 3105 and axle inserts; TE-ML 05 | 2,000 / 1,500 / 1,000 h by Load Class 1 / 2 / 3 | Confirm the exact axle group, brake duty and approved fluid before scheduling the next change |
| Load class | Initial factory-fill change | PowerFluid Gear LS | PowerFluid Plus | Typical operating conditions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Load Class 1 | 2,000 h | 2,000 h | 4,000 h | Low brake utilization or standard axle conditions |
| Load Class 2 | 1,500 h | 1,500 h | 3,000 h | Standard wheel loaders; graders, telehandlers and dumpers |
| Load Class 3 | 1,000 h | 1,000 h | 2,000 h | Extreme braking, heavy backhoe duty or ambient temperature above 40 °C |
Check the first factory-fill period, oil category and interval against the exact axle, brake configuration, load class and operating temperature. Replace the applicable filters and inspect the removed oil for contamination or abnormal wear during the planned service.
Practical answers for vehicle owners, workshops and manufacturers planning diagnosis, maintenance or delegated repair.
MULTITRAC covers several axle families, positions, planetary reductions, brake configurations and machine classes. The axle type plate, part list number, axle serial number, position on the vehicle and machine operating data determine the applicable TE-ML 05 group, fluid category, service interval and diagnostic route. When this information is unclear, contact ATS before selecting oil, filters or repair parts.
Start with the exact axle group and operating conditions, then assign the TE-ML 05 load class. The initial factory-fill change window is 2,000, 1,500 or 1,000 operating hours for Load Class 1, 2 or 3. Subsequent intervals differ by approved fluid: PowerFluid Gear LS follows 2,000, 1,500 or 1,000 hours, while PowerFluid Plus follows 4,000, 3,000 or 2,000 hours. Brake utilization, ambient temperature and the axle configuration must be verified before the interval is released for service.
The two Genuine ZF fluids are assigned to different TE-ML 05 categories and application conditions. Wet multi-disc brakes, limited-slip functions, thermal load and the axle's internal friction requirements influence the correct selection. Using a fluid because it fits the general MULTITRAC family can create braking noise, friction instability or accelerated wear. ATS can verify the axle configuration and current TE-ML requirement before the oil change.
Investigate abnormal braking noise, wheel-speed imbalance, differential-lock behaviour, oil leakage, overheating, metallic contamination, reduced traction, planetary noise or a change that appears only under load. Record the axle position, temperature, duty cycle, recent service and any braking or drivetrain warnings before dismantling the unit. Contact ATS with these observations so our team can separate an oil or brake condition from a mechanical, hydraulic or vehicle-control fault.
Wet multi-disc wheel-speed brakes and differential-lock functions influence both the symptom and the diagnostic path. Brake chatter, uneven wheel speed, delayed lock engagement, traction loss or overheating can result from the oil category, brake friction condition, hydraulic or electric control, mechanical wear or a vehicle-side fault. Record when the symptom appears, whether the axle is hot or cold, the load and steering condition, and any warnings before dismantling the unit. Contact ATS with the evidence so our team can separate an axle, braking, control or vehicle integration problem and plan the correct repair route.
ATS supports MULTITRAC axle identification, technical diagnosis, genuine fluid and filter selection, verified replacement-parts supply, repair and overhaul coordination, and manufacturer-delegated warranty work. For a focused assessment, send a clear photo of the ZF axle type plate, including the part list number and axle serial number where visible, the machine OEM, model and machine serial number, axle position, operating hours, symptoms and service history.
