ZF ECOMIX concrete mixer transmissions save money on every trip
The new generation of ECOMIX 2 mixer drives from ZF is designed for mixing drums up to 16 m3 and output torque up to 90,000 Nm. The lightweight and compact design makes ECOMIX 2 24% lighter and 50% shorter compared to previous models. The use of a patented elastomer transmission, in addition to vehicle control, allows for increased axial displacement of the mixing drum as well as variable inclination. ECOMIX acts as an acoustic and mechanical barrier between the mixing drum and the truck frame, which leads not only to significantly quieter operation but also increased comfort for the driver. Serviceability is improved thanks to the separated oil systems for the transmission and the hydrostatic system, as well as improved access. Mixer owners and large concrete users constantly raise their requirements for drum sizes, with greater power and long work shifts being only a partial aspect. With its two models, ZF demonstrates remarkable capability in the production of power transmission for concrete mixers. The main difference between the generations is the fact that ECOMIX 2 models surpass the previous model when it comes to size, weight, toughness, flexibility, quietness, serviceability, and comfort. The transmission consists of a two-stage planetary gear driven by a hydraulic motor. Both stages benefit from an economical and proven technology combined with low wear levels and easy maintenance under heavy conditions of use. This allows manufacturers to free up design space and simplifies integration. The incredible durability of the bearings helps to increase the effort, with lower fuel consumption, leading to reduced costs on every trip.
